1. The PHC VLA Avian database.

Description:-

This database has been compiled from monthly Newsletters initially from VLA's Langford and Winchester and latterly Starcross. My thanks to my colleagues within the VLA for publishing such useful information.

I started recording this information from the end of 1999. As of July 2007 there are 699 entries. These reports cover many species and describe diseases that are not necessarily commonly seen in the commercial poultry sector. As with many useful pieces of information filing and retrieval can be major problems. This is particularly frustrating when the information is very valuable.

Currently, this data can be searched by species and disease. All information relevant to a specific disease can be printed out. Summary tables of entries by species, by disease and by species by disease can be viewed.

Click on the links on the left to view examples of the print outs for Marek's disease and Pigeon Paramyxovirus infection or summary tables by breed and disease. A facility to add your own information and update the table is included.

Download information.

The download zip file contains both the database runtime engine for the database and the programme, into a folder on your C:\ drive. You need all the files contained. Extract the files into this temporary folder. Locate the file welcome.html and open it. Follow the instructions. It is important that you load the runtime engine first. I have run this programme on Windows 98 and XP. It is designed for stand alone computers.
