About this site
If you are not interested in chickens, turkeys, ducks, pigeons, pheasants, partridge or avians in general; then this will be the most boring site you have ever stumbled across.
You will be pleased to know that the PHC Library is developing nicely. You will not be so pleased to learn that there is a subscription cost involved, much less than a good reference book but more than your favourite forum.
The PHC Library attempts to bring together accurate, up to date and relevant information about birds, their diseases, management, treatment, biosecurity and nutrition.
The stimulus to develop the library was the microscope courses that I run for pigeon fanciers. There is now a complete set of presentations on using your microscope, recognising worm eggs, coccidial oocysts, feathers, plant cell debris; pictures of the relative sizes of a coccidial oocyst, capillaria egg and ascarid egg; videos of trichomonads (canker) and how to prepare your salt flotation solution.
One of the presentations in the section on "Lab tests" gives a comparison of the results that you may expect when screening pigeon droppings qualitatively (present - "Yes" or "No") as opposed to quantitatively (counting).
These presentations are practical, I have used pictures, video or diagrams, wherever possible, to show you what I am talking about. Each presentation lasts between 10 to 20 minutes. This is to allow you to dip in and out easily.
